You might think that

I don’t notice,

But I’m glad that I

Was chosen

To really be able

To really see

The way that you

Complete me.

It’s the little things about you,

Like how no matter what direction,

You give me love and affection

To use as a blanket of protection

That gives my life a different reflection.

Like when you give me

A new retrospective

To use as an elective

That enlightens my directive

Of a brand-new perspective.

Or when I am at the table,

Stressing and barely able,

You come to lay my head by your naval

Like a queen in an old fable.

Or when it’s time for bed,

You always kiss me on my head,

Reenergizing the part of me that’s dead,

That takes away all life’s dread.

Or how when I feed you

A portion off my plate,

You nibble at it so passionately

Like the love that we make.

It’s the little things about you,

Like how even when

You’re miles away,

I think about you

Every day.

And when I think I’m alone,

You call me on the phone,

Not scheduled like a drone

But because you feel it too

When you are home.

Or like when we are lying there

And I’m playing in your hair

As you look at me in such a stare

Cuddled up to me like a bear.

Whether millions rich

Or penny poor,

I’m fortunate to have you by my side,

Knowing that if it came down

To risking it all, you’d be down to ride.

It’s the little things about you

That I love

So very much

From your voice that whispers

To the feeling of your touch.

You’re everything I need,

And you’ve have been with me for many years—

The love that I would cry for

But only to shed happiness in tears.
